COVID-19 – How to look after yourself and others in self-isolation

The government’s guidance is that individuals who live alone and also have a fever or a continuous cough should be completely isolated for seven days, whereas 14 days of “whole household isolation” is recommended where anyone has these indicators. it implies not even going out for a walk or opening the doorway to receive a delivery

The difference between self-isolation and self-quarantine

Self-Quarantine

It is something you can do at home for the precaution. You can avoid contact with people and social gathering. It keeps other people safe from the virus. If you see any symptoms of coronavirus due to connection with the confirmed case.

Self – Isolation

It means you stay inside and avoid contact with people before being tested for coronavirus. In this situation, you have symptoms but awaiting the result of the test.

Don’t’s During Self – Quarantine

You can go for a walk and cycling and all but avoid contact with people.

  • Do not go to school, college or work.
  • Do not use public transport.
  • Do not go to meetings, social gatherings, group events or crowded places.
  • Do not have visitors at your home.
  • Do not go shopping – where possible, order your groceries online or have some family or friends drop them off.
  • Keep away from older people, anyone with long-term medical conditions and pregnant women.

Do’s and Don’ts while self-isolation

DO’S

If you have symptoms of coronavirus then do not panic. First isolate yourself and call your GP (General practitioner).If you are having fever from 5 days then there are possibilities of rising virus within 14 days.

What to do for Self Isolation?

  • Try to stay at home, open window and clean things properly.
  • Stay away from family members and neighbours.
  • Monitor your health and symptoms – call a doctor if they get worse.
  • Call your doctor avoid travelling – do not visit them.
  • Use tissue while coughing and sneezing – clean your hands properly afterwards.
  • Wash your hands with hand wash and sanitize them properly and often.
  • Do not share your clothes and towel with others.
  • Clean your room every day with a household cleaner or disinfectant.

Don’t’s

  • Do not go to outside like work, school, religious services or public areas.
  • Do not share your things.
  • Do not use public transport or taxis.
  • Do not invite visitors to your home.
  • Keep away from older people, anyone with long-term medical conditions and pregnant women.
